The young but feared sorcerer Zagan is a candidate to become a member of the 13 Archdemons—a group of the strongest sorcerers in the world—following the death of their eldest member, Marchosias. When attending the deceased Archdemon's estate auction, Zagan finds something he did not expect: love at first sight. The sorcerer impulsively spends all his money to take Nephelia, a rare elf slave, back to his castle. Given the girl's mysterious and troubling past, there is a lot for Zagan to uncover about his new companion. However, Zagan's lack of experience with the unfamiliar feeling of love leads to many awkward moments between him and Nephelia, whom he calls by the nickname "Nephy." As the two grow closer and get more comfortable around each other, it becomes increasingly evident that Nephy's feelings might not be so different from Zagan's. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Sadly, the bad outweighs the good on this particular anime. This series' saving grace was the hilarious interactions between the main cast. The characters are likeable through their quirks and awkward personalities, go through decent development, and have some entertaining misunderstandings. The romance between Zagan and Nephy, being genuinely adorable, makes you root for their relationship. However, they have essential married, adopt a child together and yet, we don't see more intimacy then being fed pastries. The story lacked progression. While the characters do undergo change, the cast is made up of the 'enemies turned friend' troop that is over played. One odd aspect is thatthe main couple are both capable of (and are even proud of) murder and yet, they hesitate to take the lives of their enemies. This being a common contradicting theme within these light-hearted series. With such high stakes, nothing of depth happens. The story also lacked satisfying resolutions to serious criminal acts, such as abduction, imprisonment and basic threat of death. Every act is simply water under the bridge in the following episode. The animation was low budget and the action scenes consistently cut corners, the character designs were 'cute' to say the least, though the dialogue is very over the top. The OST throughout the anime was rather clumsy and not befitting of the story. Falling into three major genres of Action, Fantasy, and Romance, more was expected. Great characters, but disappointing writing. Not terrible, but underwhelming. Worth a watch at the very least.
MaDoMe - The infinitely better version of the "Naughty" show from last year. Back last Fall, there was a show called Konyaku Haki sareta Reijou wo Hirotta Ore ga, Ikenai Koto wo Oshiekomu a.k.a I'm Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness, shortened to IkeNaiKyo. That show had a lady who was framed by her own circumstances and fled to a sorcerer's place for recluse against her enemies, which he took her in, and the seeds of romance just somehow blossomed between the two in love, resulting in a VERY awkward relationship. Somehow, the writing in that was too whimsical formy tastes, not to mention the "realism" in that was somehow lacking, despite a good character cast, and ultimately, I came up feeling short and lackadaisical on that front. But as for novelist Fuminori Teshima's Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba Ii? a.k.a An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride, shortened to MaDoMe? Now this was what I was waiting for, not just as a source reader, but because I know that everything that the series offers, is basically the superior version of IkeNaiKyo (for a lack of better words). The work itself is rather charming for a good read (or watch), which brings us to the eventual anime adaptation of the source material...and yes, it may be inferior to the LN and its manga adaptation, but you should not just dismiss this as a generic, run-of-the-mill show either. If you've watched IkeNaiKyo before, you'll find that it and Madome share a lot of similarities in overall traits and aesthetics. But ultimately, as per the longevity of the original source material, you'll instantly know which one is easier to have in the long run, or whether it is an inspiration to "copycat" copy-and-paste imitations just like it (not going to get into comparisons because that's NOT the point of the review). Both Zagan and Allen Crawford are magic sorcerers in their own right, having the woman of their lives come to a point when they least expected it (Nephelia a.k.a Nephy, during an auction, and Charlotte Evans, the noble lady who was framed and kicked out by her own family, only to settle in Allen's place), which subsequently grow to become the adornment of the core relationship of the series. In Madome's case, it's the lone Zagan living alone in his rather big castle, taking up the place in the rank of Archdemons after one of them passed away, with so much treasure to sell that it becomes a free-for-all in the manner of an auction. Together with his close buddy of fellow sorcerer Barbatos, Zagan caves in to see the items offered in store: from regular magic items that archdemons would keep...plus an elf for a slave? Initially sold for a high price (like all elf slaves are and do), Zagan literally fell in love at first sight of the beauty and splendour of Nephy enough to offer all of his fortune for her...only to be met by pure awkwardness on how to deal with another person, let alone his "fated" partner for time to come. And cue in the title drop, because that's how we get to see Zagan and Nephy's relationship cure over time from a master-slave to a pure, lovey-dovey one, that'll have your heartstrings squealing for joy. It is easily seen that Zagan and Nephy's relationship is rather typical for fantasy standards (if you count IkeNaiKyo as being one of it), though this is what makes the series special in the first place. Sure, it's just as awkward as the relationship between Allen and Charlotte in trying to figure out who loves the other more, though I'd argue that Madome does the formula first, and does it with justice that you can't help but root for Zagan and Nephy's relationship to bloom. Over time, Zagan learning that Nephy is enslaved because of her dangerous high elf magic, only gives more reason to the relationship being a very costly one, pitting the both of them together to take down evil forces for good. This is alongside the rather colourful cast, from the young Holy Knight of Chastille Lillqvist, who'll eventually come from targeting Nephy to embracing her, and Zagan's relationship as the clumsy and emotional Knight of Justice, as well as the demi-human winged store runner Manuela, whom Zagan frequents her clothes store for Nephy to get acclimated to the human world. The overall cast may be small, but I'll take this any day to see the romantic hijinks of the main couple. It's no secret that the big elephant in the room lies with the production. Brain's Base and (especially) its in-house director Hiroshi Ishiodori may not have the greatest of reputations for giving effort to the shows directed (the most recent being the new generation of the Duel Masters franchise), but for a director who's mainly absent from directorial duties, this show is a decent comeback thanks to the strong writing of the source material, as well as some fine animation that, while it doesn't look impressive, serves the job well enough to look good at the very least. The music...is rather underwhelming. Sure, the OST is decent, but both The Brow Beat and Sayaka Yamamoto's respective OP and ED songs are just too slow for my taste, they can very well serve as songs before you sleep. Very forgettable. All in all, I really recommend this show if you're looking for another romance show to watch. With the fantasy elements every now and then, that break the momentum, it doesn't lose sight of its main theme: the ever-so frenzied dilemma of loving an elf bride, like no other, for an archdemon.
An Archdemon's Dilemma is a fantasy slice of life anime with a romance theme, but it ultimately doesn't quite manage to decide what it wants to be, and falls a bit flat in all respects. Animation / Art / General Visuals - 6/10 ----------------------------------------------- While the base art and detail is fine, the animation is very bare bones. Most fight scenes are barely more than static characters charging at each-other. Magical effects are similarly done in the most simplistic ways possible. Some chibi art style moments for comedic relief are also barely animated. As a whole, it is very unimpressive. Sound / Music / Voice Acting - 7/10------------------------------------------ OP and ED is nice, voice acting good. But nothing overly noteworthy. Story - 6/10 ------------- There isn't a whole lot of story, but the show does make it clear early on, that it's going to be focused on a fair bit of slice of life, so one shouldn't even have expected anything overly grand. Basically, a powerful sorcerer ends up purchasing a slave girl after falling in love with her. As he spends time with her, he ends up changing from a gloomy, introverted hermit, to a more approachable individual that learns the value of friends and family. On the side we have some minor fantasy political stuff like the ever common overly zealous church who fights the sorcerers, and the sorcerers who get up to a bunch of mischief. There's a bit of a grander storyline underneath it all, but it's mostly unexplored. The story tries to focus on a romance but there really isn't much of a one. The romance essentially boils down to the two characters staring at each other awkwardly and occasionally holding hands. It doesn't really go anywhere and thus isn't fulfilling at all. Characters - 7/10 --------------------- Probably the strongest part of the show. The characters aren't particularly deep but they're likeable enough. The main character is basically a sorcerer NEET who is so unapproachable that everyone thinks he's evil, even when he's mostly just indifferent. His inability to understand social cues and his own intimidation factor, make for some nice comedic moments. Secondary characters feature a fellow sorcerer friend who is basically the direct opposite of him, the slave girl love interest who is mostly just a nice decoration piece, a daughter like character who is a funny kid, and a possible secondary love interest who mostly ends up being a bridge to link the love story with the grander story of political conflict and such. Even though the characters don't have much depth, except for common backstory tropes, they fit into the story just fine, and aren't insufferable, which is good enough --- Total - 7/10 --- An Archdemon's Dilemma is a fun little fantasy show, but it doesn't really know what it wants to do with itself. There's a fairly OP protagonist, but it's not really a major power fantasy angle. There's romance, but it's very bare bones and doesn't go anywhere. There's a grander storyline, but it's not really explored. There's slice of life, but it's all very basic stuff that doesn't go beyond "hanging out a bit". A relaxing watch for fantasy fans, but don't expect to be impressed by anything.
Animes like this were what made me start liking anime, and even today I love watching this type of anime. For me, what brings a good experience to the viewer is the feeling you get when watching, many animes forget that you need to create a plot that makes you want to watch anime. This type of anime is the harmless anime, which, without having to invent much, manages to deliver a great experience for the viewer, the script is extremely consistent and well executed, very good to watch. It even brings me nostalgia for when I watched romances like Plastic Memories and Acchi Kocchi, havinga new anime like this brings me back to the time when watching anime was always a pleasure. The producer Brain's Base is experienced in making romance animes, which greatly reinforces the quality of the anime, despite the more pragmatic "romance" that it is (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) they aimed for a simpler proposal, but with an execution with mastery. I recommend.
The anime starts strong with the premise of an awkward, yet wholesome romance, embedded into a cruel fantasy world. It includes interesting concepts, which make for some good fantasy world building. At first, I thought this anime was about developing the main relationship. It's literally what the title proclaims. But then it delves into all sorts of subplots that end up not adding much to the development of the relationship. Neither does it really explore its fantasy setting in more than a superficial way. The romance does not feel like it's developing naturally. Instead the main relationship is seemingly put between guard rails. In the later episodesit's going through plenty of run-of-the-mill tropes and the characters end up being tackier than they have to be. Finally, it all settles into some kind of family setting, which takes away space for our awkward couple to explore their attraction. But hey, at least the two MC's relationship can be cute, even if it's super tame. All in all, kinda interesting and kinda boring at the same time. A lighthearted show with slow romance for when you need some comfort food.
An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride is a delightful addition to the Spring 2024 anime season. This fantasy romance expertly blends action, comedy, and heartwarming moments to create a truly engaging viewing experience. Zagan's unexpected kindness is a refreshing take on the typical demonic archetype, and his growing relationship with Nephelia is undeniably adorable. The pair's interactions are filled with blush-worthy moments that perfectly capture the essence of young love. Studio Brain's Base has done an excellent job bringing the story to life with beautiful visuals and smooth animation. The OP and ED tracks are catchy and complement the show's overall tone. The characterdevelopment is well-executed, with each character feeling unique and relatable. While not revolutionary, An Archdemon's Dilemma is a charming and heartwarming tale that deserves more recognition. It's a must-watch for fans of fantasy romance and those seeking a feel-good anime experience.
Here we go again, a "Marinate1016" 9/10... it's another "Beauty and the Beast" inspired romance and officially the worst of the three musketeers namely "Niehime", "Mahoutsukai no Yome" and now "MaDoMe". Niehime was truly special, the greatest of the "B&B spinoffs". The adaptation of “An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride” only helps to make that show even more impressive. If you want a properly condensed form of my thoughts, SacredArrow2000's brilliant review gets right to the point. In Niehime, the beauty and the beast are obvious, In this series, The "Archdemon" is the beast and the "Elf "is the beauty. The early Arcs have a lot of similarities and the overarching conflicts can be compared with many correlations. I believe that Niehime is more similar to this show than MahoYome. Now back on topic, instead of a proper structured review i will rant. The genres of this show are Action, Fantasy, Romance. It barely scratches any of them. This is a huge problem because the show cannot be good unless it does as least one of these justice. The so called "Action" is erratic, either too pointless and fleeting or just utterly ludicrous. It get's evem worse when they try to make the situation more serious, where it often concludes the confronttation in the utmost anti-climatic fashion. The powers they use and exhibit are inexplicably formed and manifested which stifles any of my interest. Are you here for romance? Here’s some crumbs, enjoy! They seem to touch on several fantasy themes and ideas but never go deeper, which is incredibly disappointing. Why does writer make official use of shortened names? it's one thing to shorten it only in secret, but to maintain this distortion of a name outwardly, causing others to adopt this broken form is utterly atrocious. Let me give you an example of why you don't shorten names; in the UK if you are called Gary, or Gareth, they call you Gaz. Likewise if you're called Barry, Basil or Sebastian you are nicknamed Baz. Notice how the original name is robbed of it's glory, it's symbolism and respect. What is the purpose of this? Apparently, "to show affection". What is this shortened name called commonly? A "pet" name. Well that's exactly it, reduced from person to pet, your respect taken for such a fleeting thing such as affection. imagine being called Sebastian and someone shouts to you "Baz" randomly in front of people, how can people take you serious? The shortened name sucks. In short the elf's full name is fine and necessary for an immersive fantasy experience, we should not make the mistake of shortening it for so called "affection". What is the obsession with putting a large potentially dangerous, intimidating character in a slick full suit of armour and revealing them to be another annoying fan-service tool which only cheapens the experience? These editors love this garbage, they want recognition, they want sales, they want retention, but for binge watchers like me it's just utterly revolting. Remember when characters took of the mask and turned out to be Obito Uchiha? Gone are the days. They did the same trick with "The wrong way to use healing magic" as a result, the fight suffers, the stakes suffer, the stories suffer, the emotion is reduced a crawl the immersion is smashed, broken. It's disgusting and I'm sick of it. I ended up reducing the score of that show by an entire point, what a terrible way to ruin the experience. "Arch-demon" Oh dear..... Perhaps the source portrays him better, but this adaptation does no justice to his character. What about the way he achieves this obviously prestigious title/role? A true marvel in terrible writing. You see the powerful and intriguing word "Arch-demon", and I know just like me you're expecting some Alucard-like middle-age or older warlord just overflowing with charisma, aura and confidence, drowning in a wealth of experience with his wisdom, knowledge and understanding sharpened by the mentoring of remarkable teachers and the whetstone of life. However.......... We're left in total despondency. For this MC you've really got to depress any sentient brain activity to have any shred of pleasure with him on the screen. Can writers just stop making everyone an orphan/ bastard. It's the easy way out, you write without attachments and it's still awful. His level of achievement and power is completely impossible with the background we were briefed on. He is obviously too young, and too inexperienced which completely counteracts any serious writing here. When he's supposed to look and act badass, it never quite hits, it feels fake and forced, whilst the “romantic” scenes completely bastardize him. Nearer to the end he’ll appear in places and make sharp and intelligent decisions, pulling out powers and wisdom like a rabbit out of hat, because the plot requires him to. It’s all too boring and superficial for me to care, perhaps I’ve just watched too many of these shows. As for the romantic interest, undoubtedly she's the best part of this show, however she suffers from a similar but different issue, she's either too good, almost angelic or too ridiculous. It just doesn't seem realistic, she’s like a fantasy, in a fantasy. Unsurprisingly she is written as a bastard with zero attachments which makes me very skeptical as a lot of the decision making seems far beyond her background. This kind of untouched, unattached, beautiful, well-mannered, well-raised woman who also happens to be abandoned as a child without proper parental guidance, doesn’t exist. It wont all be negatives as the writer does quite wisely understand the true power of women, showing what the MC is inspired and influenced to do due to the actions and character of this woman. It was pleasant to watch this character hold back from conventional actions because she understood her feminine role in the situation as to ascertain a greater future regarding the relationship and others. She needed a flaw to be believable, you might say her flaw is "she loves mc too much, too readily" but this is nonsense as this cannot be a flaw of women as that is their purpose. The other characters just didn’t impress. Too many women and every other man that gets significant screen-time is basically a dunce or cynically evil. The interactions are sometimes funny and cute, I just didn’t care for it, after watching a show like Niehime it just wasn’t good enough. As touched on by SacredArrow2000, the omni-benevolent nature of some these characters just kills the tension, curiosity and the drama produced by these conflicts. When someone tries to kill you, you can’t just instantly forgive them. Even if that’s the case it has to be only one unique character like this, most sane people do not invite threats into their house, or turn their backs to their enemies, treating them with care. I will say, the show shines with the dialogue between the characters, it's quite enjoyable despite lacking quality in the writing. The plot depicted by the direction of this show is another rather embarrassing attempt of saving the world and mending longstanding divisions between sub-national factions. It ends up leaving a lot to be desired and oversimplifies too many elements. The conflict is also confusing and illogical subsequently the conflict resolution is even worse. Sound and animation did the job but were not powerful enough, in harmony, to produce any spectacular moments I could recall. Ratings ---------------------------------------------------------------- Animation - 6 Sound - 6 Plot - 4 Characters - 6 Enjoyment – 5 27/50 – 5.4/10 - 5/10 Conclusion ---------------------------------------------------------------- It falls short of doing anything particularly well. If the story intrigues you, perhaps consider reading the manga or light novels, I assume the general sentiment will be more inline with the author's intended ideals. If not just go and watch Niehime, a show that does everything better, namely it’s brilliant soundtrack done by Kohta Yamamoto, A great story, proper characters, real stakes and proper wisdom in dialogue with interpersonal conflicts and ideals. This for me, wasn’t optimal to pass the time. My review may seem like an advert, but such was my experience watching this show, I could only think of how another show did better. Hope this helps.
I'll be honest, based on the name I didn't expect much. I guess you should never judge a book by its cover, as there's a coherent plot unfolding and even exciting action scenes with mages battling each other which ends up giving this show much more depth than I anticipated. The story revolves around a powerful mage named Zagan who buys a slave elf named Nephy at an auction, and this gradually leads to them falling in love. You would think this doesn't allow for much room to grow or an actual story to be told without turning into a cheesy typical romance flick, however, Iwas very pleasantly surprised. The anime is at its core a cute romance, which is paced well and provides a healthy mix of comedy, action and romantic scenes which leads to an overall enjoyable watching experience. The fantasy setting is used well and even the side characters are entertaining, have clear motivations and goals. The romantic scenes often feel awkward because both characters have trouble expressing their true thoughts and desires. However, it's a wholesome and cute awkwardness—the kind that makes you smile rather than grind your teeth from cringe. The romance is handled with maturity, which shows itself in the way the main character, Zagan, treats Nephy with care and respect. The show also avoids falling into the trap of catering to fan service, which is a good thing. The animation was pretty average and so was the music but the OP is a banger and I enjoyed it a lot. The show ends on a rather positive note, even though I have to admit I expected a bit more from the last episode. This anime exceeded my expectations because I thought this would be average at best but turned out to be a cute romance in a fantasy setting with entertaining humor and a rather memorable cast of characters. While the plot does not provide the most complex storytelling, it's just fine for what it is and a light, wholesome romance to watch.
Please let me be short: this anime is absolutely soul-healing. It reveals a story, which at a first glance may seem as typical fantasy rom-com, but wait! You know what? The plot is going here to make you happy at the ending. A different things are happening before this, but unexpectedly they are turn out to lead to satisfying denouement. The characters are well-developed, and the storyline keeps you engaged with its lighthearted yet meaningful moments. Such are the things! If you're looking for an anime that leaves you with a good vibe and a smile on your face, this one is a must-watch. The characters'interactions are charming and often humorous, adding depth to their relationships. What sets this anime apart is its ability to balance the fantastical with the slice-of-life, making the story feel engaging. Overall, this anime is a delightful escape that promises a feel-good experience from start to finish. It's a perfect choice for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a well-crafted story with a heartwarming ending. Give it a watch, and let its charm and positivity brighten your day.
In an age of repetitive power fantasy harems, Madome shines as an example of how to make a good medieval fantasy story and is one of the most satisfying romances of the year. I’d seen this series’ LN in bookstores for the past few years and was always a little tempted, but passed because of my backlog and the belief it would be another run of the mill fantasy story. Could not have been more wrong on this one. Yes, it starts off with the somewhat common trope of the MC buying a beautiful slave, but that’s where similarities with other series end. From that pointon, the focus switches to an extremely well developed romance between the two leads with every interaction being diabetes personified. Additionally Zagan, the male lead, is a nice change of pace from most MCs. He’s not out to defeat a demon lord or save the day, in fact he is by this world’s standards, a bad guy, and it’s through meeting Nephy that he begins to change. He goes from someone who’s shut themselves off from the world and obsessed with the idea of becoming an Archdemon to someone who just wants to live a peaceful life with his beautiful companion. Throughout the show, Zagan gradually opens up not just to Nephy, but other characters like Chastille, Valefor and Barbados as well, forming genuine friendships and even a family for the first time in his life. Even with him being as socially awkward as he is, the people around Zagan recognise that he cares for them and that’s all that matters. While the romance/family building is the core of the series, there’s actually a pretty cool story as well that slowly unfolds especially towards the end. My one complaint is that I would’ve loved more of it in the one cour we got of this. As usual, it started getting good at the end and while the Nephy and Zagan stuff is awesome, I was really interested in the demons and the other world building too! Production wise Madome is really solid. The animation isn’t crazy, but it’s definitely not bad. What really stands out to me is the amazing OST. It has a really mystical vibe to it that just enhances so many scenes. The seiyuus do a great job, especially Nephy and Valefor’s seiyuus who had me emotional more than a few times. I just really like this anime man. If you’re thinking it’s a generic fantasy show, you could not be more wrong. It’s a good show with emphasis on character development, almost no fan service, plenty of sweet moments that’ll melt your heart and an MC that I think many people will find relatable and endearing. He’s not perfect, but he’s trying to be better for the people he loves. I think that’s something we can all learn from. Madome gets 9, out of 10.
Art - 6/10 Generic fantasy isekai artwork, nothing stand out but cool character designs! for some characters, others are a bit copy paste with 10000 other isekais's. Characters -7/10 Nephy is kinda annoying, but the other characters in the cast are better, valthor is a really cool name for a character and easily easily carries the last half of the season Story - 6/10 WELL the story is generic again, but has some good moments, It does follow the typical isekai trope of buying a slave, A trope i'm not really a fan of, but kind of makes sense in some series, this one it does not.was just a way to force the two main characters to meet. Enjoyment - 6/10 Although my reviews were mostly negative to this I was actually surprised by how decent it was, the characters were stand out and captured most of my attention, check it out if you have spare time.
I don't have a strong opinion on this one. It's a blatantly average show that will probably keep you entertained for 12 eps. It uses the standard 'dude treats traumatized girl with basic human decency until she develops feelings for him' romance formula, and it works, sometimes. It's the type of show with nothing outright bad about it, but nothing stands out either, it doesn't bother to try. The romance aspect, which is the main draw of the show, is quite underwhelming. The male lead is the usual 'OMG It's a girl! What do I do? This is soo embarrassing!' ahh character, who has ahigher chance of beating saitama than having a successful conversation with another human being. Sure, it does have a few surface level cute/wholesome moments, but its just awkward and stagnant for the most part, the same cliche shticks (AND shallow 'betrayals' ofc. never saw that coming 3 eps ago) and cringe inducingly awkward moments that we've seen everywhere else. If u take a look at their relationship in ep 1 vs ep 12, you realize how much time you just wasted. Oh well, the romance might be kinda mid, but what about the other aspects of the show? D o n ' t w o r r y a b o u t i t. Nephy has pretty amazing and unique magic powers, I wonder what they will do with this. Dont worry about it. Magic users are being massacred indiscriminately by a broken system, only the strong ones make it out alive, but not everyone want to be a cog in this broken system, I wonder what they... Dont worry about it There was a legendary dragon who fought the first wave of demo... Don't worry about it. Demons arent actually extinct?? They are trying to make their way into this world, the end might be near, but the corrupt factions refuse to take actio.... DONT FUCKING WORRY ABOUT IT. WATCH THE MID ROMANCE AND SHUT THE FUCK UP. It has potential, but they take that potential, and shove it up their own ass and pretend nothing happened. It's marketed as a romance anime, but they insert so many other irrelevant, albeit interesting, plotlines only for them to go nowhere. Overall, its a pretty mid romance fantasy anime, with some cute wholesome moments. The world building is sad, the characters are just about likeable, its pretty well produced and animated. It's a cute and wholesome watch to switch your brain off and enjoy for a few hours. If you're into romance animes, give it a watch.
I'm in love with this anime , it's comedy romance drama action adventure by sequence, the story is too simple no rush in time , the world build quite good , and there sequence in time just great, Don't think about this anime will give you 100% in a thing , when you see comedy romance drama action adventure non of them has 100% but it gives you each of them more than 70% you will be satisfied by what you see , again don't rush your self by giving rulings wait for the second season,And wait to see the all story, because the story is like adventurefor it's self, yeah the songs should be better not bad but not great too, animation was just good and fun not great but just fine and good , the drawing was great , the characters design were awesome all of them , and there sounds were awesome too The action not just like you think Our main character work on himself too much Try to be better than before by learning Teaching him self from the books that he has and try to improve him self by making new methods surprising his opponents, so don't think action is bad , but it's not like that action you see in fantasy stories , this story is different from them , and when you think, why he is studying, why he's improve him self ?! , what do you think why he is studying and doing all of this ?! to protect his elf bride And the other characters each of them try to improve themselves by their own ways too For helping the main character and for helping themselves for what's happening next So this anime , this story is different from any anime in time right now .. oh and it's not Isikai .. and this anime solid 10 despite the bad things in it but for the story I gave it 10 Waiting for the second season, cause the adventure of this story has just begun .
"An Archdemon's Dilemma" is what a proper action fantasy romance anime should be. It just does everything right, the story is well paced and is somewhat realistic, the animation is good, the romance is intriguing, and the fight scenes are dramatic and intense. I personally have not seen an issue I would have with this show, besides maybe, that there are some episodes that have cliffhangers, but if you start watching this after all the episodes are released, then you probably wouldn't care since you can just go to the next episode. Other than that, the romance flows very well each episode, it doesn't feel forced orrushed through for each episode. Zagan and Nephy have a great attraction and sync to complement one another, which makes their characterization well-made. The antagonists here are also well constructed, albeit they have a very small amount of screen time compared to Zagan and Nephy, but that's probably for the best considering that they are all not nearly as interesting and well characterized as Zagan and Nephy. All that said, you should just watch this. At the very least it's a good time waster, or if you ask me, this is a great anime. 🗿 9/10, Actively hoping for a season 2! 🗿
All i have to say is "missed potential" This anime is the most destiled version of having a very good idea then falling flat on your face on the execution of such Minor spoilers ahead, be warned So for starters this romance is very much based on normal gender roles for our male and female leads, which is not really a bad thing, but when you take into consideration that the protagonist is an OP protag cookie cutter and our female lead is a slave who's submissive to her master, what ends up happening is that you end up with a plot that is WAYYYY too predictable, bythe end of the show i must say, only 1 decision the female lead took surprised me, so yeah, plot gets boring and same-y The female lead does end up having a lot of power, which would put a very interesting twist on the power dynamic between her and the male lead, as, she actually is a lot more powerful than our OP protag when unchained from her bdsm-bait fashionable submissive choker substitute... unfortunatly, nothing is ever done with this plot thread, nothing at all The supporting characters are all idiots basically, they are all simply plot movers, they have 0 personality and when the writers do try to give them personality they just create plot points that never get build upon, the "best friend who's really into women" is just that, but then the plot needs him to be this one other thing so he loses that trait and gets the new one, and so on The only 2 good characters are the last 2 who get introduced, one of them has a lot more meat and ends up even narrating the story some, but alas, that character is also just there cuz the writers wanted to write cutesy scenes from a 3rd person perpective and therefore, a "third person" was forcefully shoved into the narrative As for the romance itself, its just diabetes, its so so so so sweet but without much substance... you know when you enter some discord server and there's that one guy and girl combo and the girl will keep spamming "uwu" at the guy in the public chat on in the voice call, and then the guy replies something disgustingly cringe too like "i know you need me kitten", that's what this anime is, it feels fake, its not even "wish fulfilment", it goes a step beyond that, this really is the kind of thing that if you watch with your new significant other that you just started dating 3 days ago, it will feel just right, but be in a relationship with anyone for anything over a month and you'll know this is wayyyy too much Everything else was good enough, the animation was a tiny bit subpar but not unwatchable, but the issues with the plot just dont allow me to go anything over 6, a damn shame cuz honestly with the story they wanted to tell this could have been the most solid 9 or even 10 ive even given
I actually really liked this anime. When I first started watching, I thought it was just another standard isekai, but it’s not an isekai. It’s a fantasy about a super smart sorcerer whose objectives throughout the show slowly change from becoming the strongest sorcerer alive to just loving his family. This shift happens the moment he meets the love of his life at a slave auction, where he buys her so she can fall in love with him and live a happy life inside his castle. You’re probably thinking, “Wait a minute...that last sentence doesn’t sound right,” but it happened. Adds more content to the storylol. Despite this unconventional start, they develop a loving relationship that grows stronger throughout the series. Each episode focuses on how they live together in a society fraught with tough challenges such as betrayal, demons, and the toughest one yet, adopting a child with a revenge complex. The series doesn’t fail to introduce interesting characters and enemies that are enjoyable to watch. This season had some pretty great waifus, and Nephelia, the elf the MC bought from the slave auction, stands out in the caring department. She’s arguably underrated compared to other characters from different anime this season. Opening and ending: They’re good. I enjoyed listening to them and found them relaxing in some way. Nothing too memorable, but still good. Overall: I give it a 7.5/10. It was good, and I wouldn’t mind a season 2.
An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride. It may not have the best story, it may not have the best visuals but by far has the most wholesome scenes this entire season!! If by being an archdemon I get an elfen bride, a dragon daughter, a butler and a minion then I´m sold!!! The story follows a "Evil" mage called Zagan who lives alone in an abandoned castle deep in the forest until one day he meets an Elf called Nephy an enslaved elf soon to be wife. There isn´t much to the story or depth behind it but by having amazing and cute characters itdoes make it better. The personality between Zagan and Nephy really completes one another Zagan is the type of characters who´s cold, introvert, spineless, distrusting and rought around the edges on the outside but actually is a very caring, shy and awkward when around Nephy while Nephy on the other at the beginning was emotionless, apathetic until she later see´s Zagan´s true side and becomes caring, shy and awkward around him. The comedy is great between the characters specially Zagan in particular since he can get pretty flustrered. The music is ok, nothing over the top but without a doubt the OP is a banger. The animation is average but decent enough in certain scenes to give it a pass. I would class this type of anime as a "Purifying anime" you know like a anime that you need after watching heavy or action packed anime like Death note or AOT as examples. Since this is a slice of life, comedy and romance type of anime. There is some action but its definitively the NOT animes strong point. Overall I would give it a 6 since there isn´t much story but what carry this anime is the characters interactions that make it that much better and I really did enjoy this anime that I gotta give it a 7. I do hope it gets a season 2 but time will see, for the moment I´ll read the manga. How I rank (This is just my opinion): (Inspired by Huang-Teizan) 10 - Bendicion de Dios 9 - Now this is Peak!! 8 - Bingeworthy! 7 - Good 6 - Enjoyable 5 - Either Echii or just enough to get by 4 - I´m just here to know how it ends. 3 - "Are you related to Rent a Girlfriend?" 2 - Que cojones 1 - My head doesn´t explode because it can´t. 0 - "Even a Hentai has a better story than you!"
Zagan and Nephy are easily one of the best couples this season. You start watching this anime with low expectations but it is a matter of time before this anime wins your heart. Of all the versions of this story, including novel and manga, I feel that the anime version is the best without a doubt. Being able to see the expressions of Zagan and Nephy, but above all the work of the seiyuus, makes this story make a place for itselfin your preferences. While in the other formats Zagan feels a little more brutish and crude, and Nephy feels a little colder and emotionless, theanime fixes these issues. Listening to Zagan's seiyuu giving a voice that is a little more calm, focused and empathetic helps to soften the image of the protagonist and understand that it is not that he does not want to relate, but that he is simply clumsy when he does. The anime begins by giving you the solitary protagonist in a huge castle all to himself. As the story progresses, this castle fills with more people, which also makes it full of life. Although love is the main bond that the anime wants to highlight, it does not neglect the rest of the relationships. We have Zagan making friends, he also has an adopted daughter who he is fond of and it is the cutest thing you will see this season. The anime highlights and takes great care of the theme of emotional ties. It is an anime that, although it has some battles, is not the important thing. Fights are only a catalyst for an apology, for a rescue, or for saying something that couldn't be said at a certain time. This anime can easily become a comfort anime, without a doubt Zagan and Nephy as a couple will remain in my memories in a very special place.
When the introverted sorcerer falls in love at first sight, and decides to buy the girl as a slave. Is a whole new world of experiences opening up for the two of them. We follow the sorcerer Zaggan who ends up having the elf Nephelia as a slave, who are both socially awkward individuals, which leads to some interesting situations. We then follow the two characters interacting with each other and the world around them. This leads to some ups and downs, which shows different aspects of the characters and the world. The plot in the story keeps a nice pace, where it gives the feeling ofa relaxed story passing with room for the more action packed scenes. There is also a fair amount of progression in the plot, without it being too slow or too fast. The biggest drawback is that it very much feels like set up for future plotlines, and this is not done in a bad way, but it very much seems like the introduction to the world. The characters are generally good, they can easily be categorized in some known stereotypes, but they are not designed badly in that way. You mostly just know what you get when a new character is introduced. Though they still keep some interesting takes on some of the characters and twist them in some ways. Generally the show is very focused on the fantasy aspect with action and romance following second. Not that any of them are lacking behind, but if you expect a hardcore action or romance series is this not it. They instead make a good harmony between the three of them which helps exploring the characters and the world Overall is it a nice pure fantasy show, with some action and romance splashed into it. So I would definitely recommend this show if you are into fantasy anime.
