As a white mage, Lloyd is constantly looked down on by the hero party's arrogant leader, Allen, who eventually expels him on a whim. Despite being the former student of a legendary mage, Lloyd wanders the city helplessly for days, unable to find a new party in need of a supporting member. However, Lloyd's fate takes an unexpected turn when Yui, the leader of a S-rank group of adventurers, pleads with him to join her party on a mission dear to Yui's heart. Although Lloyd keeps downplaying his abilities, he eventually accepts Yui's aggressive offer. Warmly welcomed by his new allies, Lloyd may have just found the perfect place where his magical prowess will be rightfully valued. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

My usual reviews have detailed parts regarding visuals, audio, pacing, story, dialogue etc. Luckily (for me), the reviews are mostly negative, so I'll finish this faster. Everything is sht. Even though they are generic (and I can't believe I've said that), the designs are meh at most, maybe there are 3 of more decent ones. The animation is weird. No cinematography, no decent fight choreography. Lots and lots of copy/paste scenes for the magic casting scenes. Audio. Mid at most. Yes, even the VAs. The ED has decent visuals. And thats it. Character development, pacing, world-building, soft magic system. Ha! You're joking right? And now the reeaaaally "good" stuff.Same old "super mega OP" supporting cast that is kicked out because he looks useless. But at least we get a somewhat likable hero, yes? Or some harem stuff, yes? Or at least just cute girls on screen, in his new party or otherwise, yes? Or at least the anime looks decent enough visually, yes? Anything? Oh, my bad. We get 2 (I don't think there's a third, altoungh it might actually be just one) "lucky pervert" scene(s). Well, that should be enough to give us a second season.... Pfew, that went quick! It gets a 3, or a 4.... I'm not sure, I'm still debating. Not recommended (*gasp* oh, no!). No rewatch value. * double gasp* No idea why this anime was needed. While its not deplorable like some other tiles, it exists just to be there. Oh, its a 4. Some idea of character development for someone other than the main party. Oh, right, I dunno where I should put it, so here: fking terrible sh***y "singing spell". No idea what they tried to do. There are a couple of anime with some kind of a "singing spell" but this one was .... ugh.... Anyway, thats all. Rewatch something you like instead. Have a lovely evening.
This show will tickle that itch in your brain for an OP MC not knowing his own strength but being trained by one of the greatest heroes to live and then joining a nice and family-like party that respects the MC and his power, after being kicked out of the hero's party because of the hero thinking the MC was usless when in actual fact the MC was the only thing making the hero's party work well kinda itch. I’ll admit, at first I thought this was going to be another cookie-cutter “MC gets kicked out but proves everyone wrong” story. And in many ways, itis. But what kept me watching was the way the S-rank party is portrayed. They’re not incompetent or relying on Lloyd to carry them from the bottom up; they were already capable and respected long before he joined. This adds a refreshing twist, since it’s less about the MC dragging weaklings to the top, and more about him finding a group where his skills are actually recognized and valued. It makes the party chemistry feel genuine, not forced. On the technical side, the animation and visuals aren’t anything special. There are rough spots, and nothing about the art direction really stands out. But if you’re here for the characters and the fantasy vibes, it’s serviceable enough. Turn your brain off, and you’ll find the action, magic, and party banter enjoyable without needing every frame to be polished. Kono Shiromadoushi ga Kikakugai Sugiru may not reinvent the wheel, but it does a solid job at what it sets out to do. If you’re craving an easy-to-watch fantasy with an overpowered protagonist who finally finds the right party to belong to, this is one worth giving a try. P.S I guess I'll give this show a "Recommended" review as it needs atleast one :}
Rating: 2/10 - Not worth a watch. Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventure's weak point is by far its visuals. Even at the show's best moments, every single action/battle scene is choreographed and animated at such a subpar level it's hard to feel any tension or emotions while watching; you ultimately just end up waiting for the battle to move on. Scooped Up by an S-Rank at its worst has plenty of scenes where you get to watch our main character as a still image PNG cast spells; a couple of scenes were so bad they caught me by surprise, and I actually laughed, soI guess at times the animation does spark an emotion. Now, we've all watched plenty of shows with poor animation; the reason I'm giving Scooped Up by an S-Rank such a low score is its boring character interactions/dynamics. The main 5 characters are successfully conveyed to be nice people that hold trust in each other and have the power of friendship and what not, but none of their personalities spark any interest. The friendship of the main party is never really threatened with drama or dramatically deepened by overcoming a challenge. Surprisingly, this show doesn't attempt even a glimpse of romance between the characters; it just holds the status quo of friendship that they almost all immediately had for each other. The only character worth watching is Merlin; the entire cast besides Merlin are at best damn near boring. If for some reason you're really feeling the trope of "MC gets kicked out of the hero's party" or have another aspect that draws you to this show, I would recommend just turning to the source material. I have not read the LN, but this animation production does nothing to properly convey the story in an interesting way.
I wanted to like this, in theory this series is perfect for me and the type I love to watch, however watching this felt like a chore. I'm not sure why but for some reason this series just missed the mark, I will say it started well with its first episode and there were some good moments, and I liked that he joined a heroes party and they didn't stick around for the entire series unlike what you often see. The main characters are flat and lack appeal, and as this is who we're focused on, spending time with and the reason we're watching, then they shouldhave something that appeals to the viewer. But they lack any real personality, there is no depth so any time with them is just dull. This is made worse when you realise that there are two characters who have potential and would have made a far better focus. Ryouen, the beastfolk who is quirky enough to stand out during her scenes has strong potential as a character, and of cause Merlin, who while still slightly underdeveloped still has more depth than all the others combined almost as if they poured the personality and quirks into her and then said "that's all we can spare, we're at our quota and no one else gets any personality." Needless to say we don't get enough of her in the series. Those are the characters we should have been more focused on and should have been the main cast, or at least give the actual main cast some personality, they should have been given enough depth, quirks and likability to stand out. Normally you expect the MC to be bland in these kinds of series, but it is then the rest of the cast that fills the personality hole, here they just add to the personality vacuum. The plot is generic, terribly generic to its detriment, it is not well paced and the problems started pretty much with what it outlined in the synopsis... He joins the S-Rank party to do a quest, and as soon as they set out the whole thing is dull as anything, its boring, so little happens its like watching paint dry, then what action you do get is so badly done, thought out and animated that it holds no excitement. As the series progresses it doesn't get better it manages to make its battle scenes bland, they are simply something that exists, soulless, joyless, you get nothing out of them. Its not even a question of budget as other studios have managed to pull off better fight scenes and make them more exciting and enjoyable with their low budgets, I'm not demanding spectacular animation here, after all I watch trash isekai for fun. And this is where I also have to admit that the animation quality here is also bad, it is often at times inconsistent, I am used to average quality animation and bad CGI, but things like this shows a lack of care by the studio, and if the studio don't care about what they are making then it is not a good sign, not to mention it feels dated. On paper this series is what I enjoy, trash anime with the OP MC, the kind of mindless fun anime you so often see... Except this series forgot that it should be fun, and when something like this is not even fun to watch, what even is left? The only reason I don't score this lower is because I have seen worse, I can't recommend this as by default most series are better than this one, and from this season Mizu Zokusei no Mahoutsukai is right there showing us how it is done right.
Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer! Is a nice surprise for this season! We follow our hero Lloyd who has been trained since childhood to be unstoppable, he's grown capable of doing magic without incantations (such an unoriginal trope by this point) yet he's also a meek insecure pushover because he's incapable of understanding his power even when an entire town hails him as the hero. He's bland and kind of unlikable even when he's being heroic, I guess he's a very hollow preset MC that's there for the male viewer to subconsciously self-insert, but overall I warmed up to Lloyd by the end. Fanserviceis there but it's tame which is always appreciated. This anime copied the exact same trope I saw last season, where our hero is in a support role but is bullied and under-appreciated by his team, but very appreciated by a second team who can see his immense power, it isn't doing anything new there, but the cast is likeable if a little one-dimensional. For 2025, the animation is bad but not terrible, the sound design is pretty basic too. Low budget vibe, this honestly doesn’t bother since the ending delivers, I love how Lloyd's background and master take more relevance as the story progresses and how his absurd level of power is explained in a satisfying way, the story moves very fast and it suffers those cut corners, but the author achieves a self-contained closure with an interesting twist related to the nature of magic and meddling with things beyond human control.
"Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer!" is a generally decent anime — not a must-watch, but not a waste of time either. It’s the kind of show you could easily skip, or toss into your PTW list for when you’re bored and want something light to binge. It’s underrated for what it is (especially after Episode 6), but still not something that will stick with you once it’s over. There’s basically zero rewatch value, though that’s true for most shows of this type anyway. Negatives: 1. Overused and Dumb Setup I really hate the “kicked out of the hero’s party” trope when it’s done for no logical reason— and this is exactly that. The MC gets booted out in a way that makes no sense other than to create drama, only to immediately join another S-rank party where he’s suddenly valued and indispensable. It’s lazy writing, and this anime doesn’t even try to justify it. If the hero’s party could at least function 75% as well without him, maybe it’d be believable. But no — we get the same brain-dead execution seen in 90% of these “exiled hero” stories. Easily the worst thing about the show. 2. Generic Characters and Tropes The characters aren’t awful, but they’re not memorable either. They rely heavily on clichés and make bafflingly dumb decisions, especially in combat. Some can’t even defeat weak monsters without a support mage — despite supposedly being experienced adventurers. You’ve seen these character types a hundred times before, and they don’t offer much new. 3. A Braindead World The world-building makes little sense. Magic exists, seems easy to learn with effort, and yet... hardly anyone uses it? There’s almost no research or development around it, which feels lazy and inconsistent. It’s like the writers didn’t think about how their own setting works. 4. Mediocre Animation Not terrible, not great — just bland. It’s not slideshow-tier bad, but it often feels like it’s a step above that. Functional, but forgettable. Positives: 1. It Gets Better After Episode 6 Once the hero party arc ends, the show finally starts finding its own voice. The story improves, the pacing feels smoother, and it actually becomes somewhat engaging. It goes from a 5/10 mess to a solid 6.5–7/10 experience in the second half. 2. Character Growth (Kind Of) The characters do improve — at least in combat and teamwork. They become more competent, and while there’s not huge emotional growth, it’s still better than what most generic fantasy anime manage. It’s nice to see some development rather than pure stagnation. 3. Fun Battles The fight scenes aren’t visually stunning, but they’re still enjoyable. The monsters are standard RPG-style beasts, yet watching the group overcome them is satisfying enough. Even with average animation, the action keeps things entertaining. Final Thoughts: "Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer!" is what I’d call “trashy but charming.” It’s riddled with clichés, dumb logic, and average production, but somehow still manages to be enjoyable — especially in the later episodes. It’s not something I’d ever recommend as a must-watch, but if you’re into this genre and want a decent binge that gets better over time, you might find yourself pleasantly surprised. 6.5/10
This anime really surprised me in a good way. The animation is smooth and consistent, making every scene enjoyable. I recommend it because the MC is overpowered but not arrogant, which feels refreshing. His character is unique, though sometimes he seems a bit too plain. Still, that makes him more relatable. The story itself is unique, and I enjoyed watching it with my mother—we both smiled a little after finishing. The art style fits the story perfectly, adding to the overall charm. I truly hope for a Season 2, especially to see if he chooses the Master, Yui, or Silica as his girlfriend.

I don't usually write reviews even if an anime is bad because I enjoy a lot of isekai and lower rated shows, yet this is the most abysmal show I have seen to date. When you start watching the first episode is kinda interesting pulling the same old kicked out of the heroes party because he can't speak up that he's helping and heroes are somehow really dumb (this will be a trend in this show). Now we move to where nothing important happens in this show, you don't care about the characters, there is no good fight scenes, there is no character development, thereis no good music or SFX, no good animations, no impactful moments, nothing. This show is as bland of a cookie cutter fantasy show about a guy with social intelligence of a rock and average actual intelligence and no personality as they come, and even that was somehow not done well. TLDR: This was a very painful watch, I got annoyed multiple times each episode and got disappointed even more. Unless you are under 12yo and have watched everything there is, don't watch this
Once again a person has been thrown out of the Hero’s party, joins a new group, and suddenly is the hero party struggling with even basic quests. Maybe the guy they threw out was useful. In this show are we following Lloyd, who was trained by Merlin and then went out to join the Hero’s party as their white mage. He is then kicked out of the group, with a feeling of being useless, but after some luck is recruited into an S-rank adventurer group. We then follow the S-rank party as they have to deal with different challenges. The plot of the show is very classicfantasy with its fundamental structure, but gives some more buildup then other similar shows. So the plot starts with an introduction of the world, which then is followed by the classic scene you see from this type show. After that is the show then focusing on arcs that further evolves the lore and setting, that also carries some more interesting moments. But overall the plot is very easy to follow, predictable and quiet basic, not necessarily bad, but is just lacking something that makes it stand out and more entertaining. Looking at the characters, is it a pleasant surprise that all the characters in the group seem to be detailed to about the same degree. All five members of the group have their own personality and goals, with some different characteristics. Lloyd does get some extra attention with some more details, which also helps push the show in specific moments. But this gives a more interesting group, with not only one person being one making choices. Though overall the characters are very simply written, with a limited amount of details, which makes them easy to read, and leaves little space for surprises. Looking at the side characters though, do some of them seem more interesting then the main cast, since they have secrets, and are not as easily read, which leaves an odd feeling when comparing the two. Production quality is slightly over basic level, since animation and design is not bad, but not rather impressive either. Animation of the show is simple and in fight scenes slightly slow, and most monsters are CGI, but is not trying to seem like more then what they are so it doesn’t feel bad to watch. Design wise the show is nicely designed, but has a lot of assets reused a lot, which becomes repetitive. Thereby production quality is not bad, but is probably average overall. To conclude it all is the show fine, it is doing okay in all aspects and not failing in something specific, so if you want an easy to watch fantasy anime, can i recommend it, if not would i watch something.
Let’s start with the technical side of things, because credit where credit is due: Scooped Up by an S-Rank Party, looks good. The animation is smooth, with a fluidity that keeps battles engaging, and the character designs, barring one glaring exception, are genuinely standout. Everyone feels visually distinct and memorable… except for our main character. Lloyd looks like he walked straight out of the "default protagonist template generator." If you’ve seen one generic light novel hero, you’ve basically seen him. Decent. Nothing groundbreaking, but it gets the job done. No one’s phoning it in, but no one’s gunning for an award either. The pleasant surprise here isthe fan service, or rather, the lack of it. Minimal to moderate, and when it does show up, it doesn’t rudely hijack the story. That, I appreciate. he Plot: Déjà Vu with Extra Blandness Now here’s where things start wobbling. This is one of those plots we’ve all seen on repeat: the modest MC gets kicked out of the best party, stumbles into a new one where he finally belongs, and shocker, turns out he’s secretly amazing. Except… is Lloyd actually amazing? And here’s the rub: the show *tells* us he’s awesome, but rarely *shows* us. His feats feel more “mildly competent” than jaw-dropping. The surrounding characters seem written at “below-average human” levels just to make Lloyd’s average efforts appear extraordinary. Instead of being wowed by an OP MC, I found myself thinking, “Wait… this is it?” The narrative flow doesn’t help. Characters make decisions, but the world around them doesn’t react—no consequences, no weight. Subplots fizzle out, arcs feel incomplete, and at times it’s like the story is shrugging and moving on because, well, episode runtime is ticking. Abrupt is the word. The Silver Linings: Not all is doom and gloom, though. Merlin, now there’s a character. She has charisma, intrigue, and narrative weight. Her connection to Lloyd, and the hints of her legendary past, had me leaning forward in genuine curiosity. The early training sessions with her teased a deeper, more mysterious story I *wish* the anime had doubled down on. There was also an attempt at fleshing out side characters with a dedicated episode, but it felt rushed, like they realized at the eleventh hour, “Oh no, character development!” and crammed it in. In fact, the entire back half of the series suffered from this problem: everything got squeezed into the last few episodes. One for character development, two or three for villains, climax, revelations, and every dangling thread jammed together. The result? A finale that felt rushed, chaotic, and ultimately anticlimactic. Verdict: *Scooped Up by an S-Rank Party* is the anime equivalent of a “time filler snack.” It’s not offensively bad, and there are glimmers of what could have been something much greater, but it squanders its potential by leaning on generic tropes without the payoff to back them up. If you just want something to watch while folding laundry or waiting for your actual seasonal favorites to air, sure, give it a shot. But if you’re the type who invests heart and soul into your anime, skip this one, you’re not missing anything transformative. Rating: 5.7/10 – Potential wasted. If you made it all the way here, congrats, you’ve invested more thought into this anime than the writers did. That’s the scoop on Scooped Up! Thanks for reading, hope it saved you a few hours (or pointed you to your next background binge).
The MC is an underconfident annoying support mage. It is a story of how he gets kicked from Hero's party (which he built) and joins an S rank party and their misadventures. Story - 2/10 How badly did they want to make a series on the bandwagon of "Kicked from party" genre that they decided to give this a try? This show is as underwhelming as it gets. It never has any substance throughout the 12 episodes. It starts off as average show and the writing quality drops down to abysmal by the end of it. Characters - 4/10 Few of the characters are good. That is the only saving graceof the show. But those are cancelled out by some really bad dumb characters who are the MC and a fox girl. They bring the show down to an AI generated slop. Animation - 6/10 Nothing great about the animation. But not bad enough to deduct rating for it. It was average animation wherever needed. There are much better shows to view in your time. Avoid this show.
Well.....Another show conquered...... In short this one's not only a mixed bag, but also pretty basic ... for the most part. And basic in a .... somewhat good somewhat bad kind of way. Look mates, this show is all over the place. Let's first get the obvious out of the way. The animation. It's bad . It's the isekai treatment even though this one's not an isekai. That being said.... I might be just overthinking it, but it doesn't feel like it's poorly treated anymore... It feels more like the animators are new to the job really. Every shot and every move the characters make duringfights and everything in between feels basic. But credits were is due ,the use of CGI has been minimal in this show. That alone puts in the mid range above plenty of shows. Now let's get into the meat of it. The world building is meh, the story is very basic and overdone,the magic system is close to non-existence, the class system they impose on themselves is also both basic and barely there....The main character is also taken off the assembly line... Overpowered isekai protag(they seem to have really stuck to that revive spell at the start counting as isekai) with low self steem that understimates himself,but this time they actually put him in a support role and make him never actually fight.Supporting cast... They don't really stand out ,although i appreciate they squeezed some mini arcs in this 12 episode show about them. Now for some positives. The actions taken and decision making when faced with most issues is quite .. educated?They are about to be assaulted by an insane ammount of monsters. They dig a giant moat (although they didn't fill it with water from the river literally flowing from the left for whatever reason)and they even built temporary wooden towers to get scouting done and high ground for archers. Of course,they also fought outside the city WALLS,but this time arround i'll give them a pass,since plenty of those monsters were the arachnid type, so they could walk along the walls and jump into an undefended spot on said walls,then good luck catching them while they vault over buildings and such. And since we talk actions...Another quick negative:LOYD PULLING THAT CONCLUSION ABOUT THE MONSTERS USAGE OUT OF HIS ASS. Oh,also also... Even the spiders that ambushed them used advanced tactics somehow... But we never see that again.. sadly. To that end... The plot really rotates around Loyd, to the detriment of the story since as we established,Loyd is basic. All in all, while i don't fully recommend this show, i'd still pick it over plenty of far worse and/or insulting anime. There's nothing to salvage from this show really,since it's all very basic as i've repeated already,but it can provide some mild entertainment to pass the time.
This anime was such a chill and enjoyable watch! It’s one of those shows that doesn’t try too hard. just good vibes, a nice story flow, and characters that are easy to like. The pacing felt just right, and I never got bored for a second. The music was a big plus too both the opening and ending were super catchy and fit the tone perfectly. I really hope we get another season with more background on the characters, because there’s definitely potential for more! If you’re into lighthearted fantasy with a comfy atmosphere, this one’s worth checking out. For me, it was a fun and relaxing ride. 6/10 and totallyworth the watch! 🌟

If you've watched any of the plethora of "booted from the Hero's party" type anime in the last several years, then you've seen this story, but done better, as it is quite literally a copy-paste of every element of the sub-genre, just that here, it's done poorly. Very poorly. Although the very first episode of the show gives a glimmer of hope, showing Lloyd being trained by a mysterious and powerful sorceress, that glimmer of hope fizzles out shortly thereafter, and never comes back. Because of the fact that Lloyd's master is so powerful and so amazing, he ends up believing that he's super weak, useless,and powerless, and this becomes his entire character and personality. I would argue that 90% of the dialogue in the entire show is the MC lamenting his weaknesses and then being told "No, you're actually amazing!" by his adventurer buddies. I could make a joke about how this was to cut down on VA costs, because it honestly feels like most characters in this show just repeat the same 5 lines over and over each and every episode. As for the characters, outside of the tank guy called Daggas, who did actually end up with a smattering of decent lines of dialogue, and Claire, the orc girl who is for some reason represented as a cute nekomimi, I could not tell you who anyone else's names are. They are all completely forgettable talking-heads. Everyone in this show is also shown to be at least mildly incompetent too. I won't bother talking about a-hole Hero squad, because that's a given in such a dull re-hash of this sub-genre, although 1 of them does have the mental capacity to realise Lloyd was a key member later on. The main supposed S-Rank adventurer squad though? I mean, in nearly every fantasy show ever, S-Rank adventurers are supposed to be the best of the best. Here, they act like rookies that can only just about work together, although of course, our MC comes in and basically takes over as the leader. The show is also visually bland from a technical perspective too, with a lot of typical "low budget fantasy" elements, like slide-show fights, black-screen cuts, and the usual stuff you'd expect from pumped-out slop. Furthermore, none of the characters, except maybe Claire, have any visual charm or flair to them either. Overall, there is zero reason to watch this show. It is an incredibly boring, bland nothing-burger that has no real redeeming qualities to it, which is unfortunately becoming less and less rare for even someone like me to say nowadays. In my preliminary review done on EP7, I gave this a 4/10, and I think that still stays true. It's bad. I wouldn't say it deserves a lower score than that, because at least the plot, or what there is of it, is cohesive. I still wouldn't recommend it though, obviously. If you do want a recommendation from me, for a show in this genre I found decent-enough, go watch "Beast Tamer" from Fall 2022.
Haiiiyaaaa. Why lah? Last season, I had a great time with Yami Healer. I want this anime genre to, at least, be decent, because I'm just getting back into watching anime. To see this anime throw my faith in the last two episodes is quite sad. But I'll be fair! I won't be like a lot of people just saying the series is just straight up bad, because I do like some of the things in this anime. How did I find this? Anione Asia's anime line-up. Yup! One of the anime from their channel. These people on the Anione Asia channel are pumping up a lot, huh? I'm glad they'redoing this, so people can easily access it without any struggle. Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) Artstyle! I love how the characters look. When I saw the art, it looked stunning, but... The animation for those arts is something else. We'll talk about it later on the review. Platform Anione Asia, Aniplus TV Korea, Bahamut Taiwan, and Crunchyroll. The review; Plot/Story Since I am new to this genre, I'm just going to be fair with all of you reading my review. Yes, it's literally the same as any other banished from a party anime. There is no twist in it... Well, I said that, I guess there is some kind of twist. The MC was not really powerful before he learned his true power from a powerful hero in the past. He got trained really harshly to the point he never saw himself as worth anything. The rest? Plain and all the same as ever. Character I enjoyed this a lot. I love the interaction between one another. They are so good, and the characterization of these characters is decent. But is it a good overall? No. While the party grows, the MC is still the same as ever. I guess when you build up that power from the start, it tends to wear off so much at the back end, huh? Wonder why? OST/SFX They have something right, though... Well, not all of it. I dislike the OP. The ending is decent. The OST in the anime itself is pretty good. Animation Alright, this section. You see, people tend to always praise the art, right? But when they finally saw how it moved, they gasped and disappointed. That was me. The first half has a good animation, then it went downhill. There are a lot of still frames in the latter 6 episodes and they use CG for the monsters. Haaiiiyaaaa. Why? The first half you guys didn't use 3D. Why sudeenly used it? I don't get it. VA I'll be fair. Yes, they do a great job. I'm happy they at least having fun voicing the characters. Two Thumbs up! The conclusion; The good At least, I can get through this anime with ease unlike Boy-Girl Friendship. The bad Nothing! I just regret that I watch it fully till the end. Graditude As always, thanks, Anione Asia. You once again proved to be a better anime provider channel on YouTube. Overall 5.7/10 Could be better, but I just giving this an average score. I don't really want to recommend it to people.
'Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer!' aka tsuiho was Summer 2025's punching bag and was frequently criticised by some as a bad anime. But when I watched it, it was not really so bad that it was unwatchable. There are things in here that are enjoyable, and there are things here that make me not give it a good score. § Overview Lloyd is rigorously trained by the legendary wizard, Merlin. No matter what Lloyd does, it doesn't seem that he can meet her standards. One day, Lloyd decides to go to the city and explore and test his capabilities. He becomes a white mage, acting as asupporter for the Hero's Party. The arrogant hero, Allen, looks down on him and eventually banishes him from the party. Soon after, Lloyd meets an S-rank party that treats him so well and acknowledges his extraordinary capabilities. § Let's talk about the studio and staff ⚫ Its studio is Felix Film. It's barely a decade old. It has some recognisable titles: You are Ms. Servant, The Most Notorious "Talker" Runs the World's Greatest Clan, and Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement. These anime range from average to good. ⚫ The director is Tamada Hiroshi. He is seasoned, having worked in the anime industry since the early 90s. I haven't seen Gibiate, where he worked as the storyboardist for Episode 6 as well as the assistant director, but it is widely regarded as poor. On the other hand, I like his previous works, Notorious Talker, as well as 80,000 Gold for Retirement. These are not visual masterpieces, but they are good enough to enjoy. The same could be said of this anime, tsuiho. ⚫ There are two people responsible for the original character design: 1) DeeCHA and 2) Mukuno, Wasabi. The former is the character designer for the light novels, while the latter is responsible for the character designs in the manga version. The character designer for the anime is Itou Yuuta, who also did the character design for 80,000 Gold. In this anime, the S-Rank Party members' and Lloyd's character designs are nothing really extraordinary, but it's at least better than Tsuyokute New Saga. The only weak point I can think of is the demons. They don't look scary. They only look like ugly human beings. ⚫ Oguro Akira is the animation director, and the animation is fairly acceptable. § Let's talk about everything else 1. The story of the protagonist being banished from a party has been done to death. It's nothing new, which is why I gave it a 4 out of 10. Despite that, I am marking this as recommended because there are some elements of the story that I find to be enjoyable. 2. Tsuiho does not position itself as a harem anime, though the presence of some ladies could potentially turn this into one down the road. Anyway, it has at least one attractive character, namely Lloyd's master, Merlin. In this anime, Merlin is female. She has the face of Kitagawa Marin, but with the age and habits of Tsunade. From the party, Yui and Silica are not bad-looking. Also, Clair isn't bad either. 3. Its running gag is how Lloyd is powerful but lacks self-esteem. He has what you would call 'impostor syndrome.' In that sense, he is relatable. If you think about it, it's a good thing that the protagonist can't attack, just like Naofumi from The Rising of the Shield Hero. It allows him to rely on other people, and he doesn't feel too overpowered. 4. I believe it is appropriate to compare it to Tsuyokute New Saga because both seem to be in similar settings with similar threats of demons. Tsuiho seems relevant to early teenagers, inculcating the value of teamwork. Tsuyokute New Saga, on the other hand, has the better lore. It is unfortunate that that anime feels more like a prologue. Tsuiho is enjoyable on its own, regardless of what happens beyond what's in the anime. § Conclusion Tsuiho suffers from being formulaic to the point that it's easy to dismiss. But taken on its own, it is enjoyable. For these reasons, I recommend it despite giving it only a score of 4 out of 10. NOTA BENE: A grade of 4 out of 10 means I got some enjoyment out of this anime, but the issues are glaring, or simply I rank it higher than my 3's but below my 5's. My enjoyment spectrum lies from 4 to 10. If I have scored an anime below 4, I actively dislike it.
